OhWord Article: Further Into the Devil’s Nest

leave a comment

“As a participant in the LA Times Beatbox experiment and occasional contributor to OhWord, I thought I would add a few things to Rafi’s into the devil’s nest. And because part of this kinda-controversy came from a Beatbox blogger “defending” an LA Times journalist, however Pulitzer-Prize winning, who didn’t do his job properly, this lowly blogger decide to play “journalist” and see if he could clear a few things up. As it stands, all that exists is a leading LA Observer blog and Rafi’s post and I thought my participation in the blog might help clear some things up. No such luck. Everyone involved had no interest in talking; I’m the only asshole willing to talk about it…”

Best of OhWord 2007

leave a comment

Rafi of OhWord.com just posted their The Cream of the Crop: The Best of Oh Word in 2007. There’s the ‘50 Incredible Rap Songs’, the Cam’ron Rhymebook, and a personal favorite of mine, Thad Clark’s Kanye piece Polos, Tuition, and Jesus (Why I Can Believe I Can Fly)’ and a thing I wrote ‘Reality Rap and Blaxploitation: Prodigy’s Return to Form:

“A great piece of writing by guest poster Brandon Soderberg on Prodigy’s Return of the Mac. Brandon focuses on the album’s use of Blaxploitation samples and projects that outwards, discussing what makes the genre unique from Hollywood gangster flicks and how those differences are echoed on Return of the Mac.”

Yeah…I’m going to try to have some real content up soon, at least one post this week and yeah, next week, I should be back to my 2-3 posts a week.

OhWord Article: Don Dewar Is a Major Tool.

“Even local, piece-of-shit, wannabe, city councilmen are using hip-hop hate to fuel their political ambitions. Maybe you read about it on XXL but if you didn’t, on Friday a Juelz Santana/Lil Wayne concert was scheduled in Baltimore. Hoping to make a name for himself, Democratic candidate for city council Donald J. Dewar III, ran around with the flier above, printed on really nice paper, and hassled the residents of the area where the concert was being held. The entire thing is well, really easy to make fun of, so I’ll leave that for the comments section, but there are some things worth noting…”

OhWord Article: Say It Ain’t So Ghost, Say It Ain’t So…

“When I first read it on Nahright, I recalled the vague rumblings of ghostwriting accusations a while back and quickly dismissed it, but as I considered it more, it kinda fucked me up. It was like when I was little and Superman was killed by Doomsday and Bane broke Batman’s back. What’s happening to my heroes?!”
